It's known as a tourist district of Bangladesh and famous for unbroken longest sandy sea beach. This beach is 125 kilometers long with a gentle slope. It is located at 150 kilometers South of Chittagong and 414 kilometers of Dhaka.
The name Cox's Bazar took from captain Hiram Cox, who was an officer of British East India Company. He tried to solve the long conflict of Arakan refugees and local Rakhaine peoples. After his death, according to his name a market was established; and now name of the total area is Cox's Bazar.
How to go at Cox's Bazar: There are many bus services available from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar. Tiket price is around 650-900 BDT for non AC and 1200-1600 BDT for AC bus services. It takes to time around 8-10 hours to reach. Nor you can go to Cox's Bazar by airway. Bangladesh Biman, Regent Air, United Air has domestic flights to Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar.

Himchori:
Himchari, located at 12 km. south of Cox’s Bazar town and 6 km from the Kalatali beach. From Kalatali bus stand you can go to Himchari by Chander Gari or CNG or Rickshaw. Way of Himchari is very enjoyable. The street of Himchari is very nice. The sea, green hill, small waterfall beside street etc. every thing of environment will lead you to the kingdom of imagination. Visiting places at Himchari National Park, bird eye hilltop center and a waterfall which is the final destination of Himchari.
Inani Beach: It is a another beautiful beach of Cox's Bazar, located on 35 km. south from Kalatali. You can go to Inani by Chander Gari, auto rickshaw or CNG. There are some hotels in here, but not enough, so you can go back to Cox's Bazar to stay at night. After breakfast around at 8.00 am you can start journey for Inani. It will take 1.30 hours to reach. After spending some time on here you can go to Himchari; can stay at here up to 4.00 pm, after that you can come back to Laboni beach.
Saint Martin's Island: It is a small coral island at the southern point of Bangladesh. Local name of the island is "Narikel Jinjira" which means Coconut Island. It is 9 km south of Teknaf and the area only 8 square km (3.1 sq. Miles). Those who have been to Saint Martin’s Island swear by its beauty. On this tranquil, laid-back island with a population of about 7,000, which survives mainly on fishing, soak in the surrounding and savor some delicious seafood.
Some Sea-Truck are run daily Tecknaf to Saint Martin's. If you want to travel with a group, you can book there from Cox's Bazar. Several sea trucks leave from Teknaf every morning at 9.00 am and return from St. Martin at 3.00 pm. It's take 2.00 - 2.30 hours to reach
There are some hotels in Saint Martin but no electricity, some hotels use generator. You can booking some hotel from Dhaka.
Dulahazara Safari Park: It is a real Jurassic Park at Cox's Bazar. Its located on Chokria Upazila beside Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway and 50 km. north from Cox's Bazar. Common animals of this park are lions, bengal tigers, monkeys, crocodiles, deer, bears and many types of birds.
You can go Dulahazra Safari Park by auto rickshaw or public bus from Cox's Bazar. Fare for public bus 50 taka, reserved CNG 600-800 taka and microbus 1500-2000 taka. Entry fee 10 taka and car parking fee 20 taka.
Moheshkhali Island:
It is a hilly Island, located at north of Cox's Bazar. This place is famous for Hindu Shrine. There is a Shiva temple on mainak hill of Adhinath. Here held a fair in february of every year. Thousands of Hindus have participated in this fair. There is a Buddhist pagoda in this island.
If you want to go Maheshkhali, firstly you have to go Bakkhali Ghat at Cox's Bazar. From there you can reach to Maheshkhali by local motorboat, its take to time around one and half hour, fare 30 taka per person (in 2010). If you go by speedboat, it will take just half an hour to reach and fare 80 taka per person.
Sonadia Island: It is an another island beside Maheshkhali. This small island is rich in wildlife and natural beauty. You can go to Sonadia by engine boat from Bakkhali Kasturi ghat of Cox's bazar or from Maheshkhali. There is no accommodation facilities at sonadia so you have to back at Cox's Bazar after visit.
Teknaf: Teknaf is a southernmost Upazila of Cox's Bazar and located 85 km far from Cox's Bazar. There are several public transport leave Cox's Bazar to Teknaf at every hour.
