Rajshahi (Ancient City of Bengal)

Rajshahi located on the middle west corner of Bangladesh. It is famous for Silk industries, Mangoes, Lychees. There are many archaeological monuments spread across the Rajshahi.

Sompur Bihar:
Sompur Bihar, Naogaon
It is located at Paharpur Badalgachhi Upazila in Naogaon District. It was a Buddhist monastery of the ancient Pal period, build by second Dharmapal (781-821). It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is about 280 km by road from Dhaka. From Gabtali of Dhaka you can go Naogaon by bus, then can go paharpur by bus or taxi.

Mahasthangarh: It is the oldest archaeological sites in Bangladesh. it is situated in Shibganj Thana of Bogra District. The ruins of Mahasthangarh are remains of ancient city Pundabardana. Archaeological architecture of Mahasthangarh are Gobindo Bhita, Khulnar Dhap, Mangalkot, Godabari Dhap, Totaram Panditer Dhap, Vashu Bihara, Gokul Medh (Lokhindorer Bashor Ghor), Shkonder Dhap. From Bogra town you can go there by rickshaw or auto-rickshaw.

Puthia Temple Complex: It is located at Putia Upazila in Rajshahi District. It is about 32 km east from Rajshahi city. These temples are built by the Zamindar Raja of the Puthia Raj family.
